Quarter 2 Report Cards

Below is information that will accompany your child's report card. Report cards will be given to students on Monday. If you do not see your child's repot card, please let me know. I will send you a copy another way.

Report Cards - Monday

Happy Friday!

Report cards will be sent home with students on Monday. We do not have conferences scheduled for Quarter 2, but I would be more than happy to meet with you if you would like more information than what is on the report card. If you do not see your child's report card soon, please let me know and I can mail/email you a copy.

Students in our classroom have met our PBIS goal again! Today, students voted to celebrate by brining their own music to school on Thursday, January 19. Students may bring a portable devise to listen to their music during work time. Devises that are misused will be housed in the front office for the duration of the day.

*Projects will also be set up for viewing in the high school hallway during the 5th-12th grade Winter Concert, January 18, 6:30-8:00pm.

StoryKeepers Project

Happy New Year!

Before break, the fifth and sixth graders worked with Vermont author Natalie Kinsey-Warnock. Natalie specializes in writing stories based on her family history, and she guided us through a similar project. In school, students have been accessing census data, military records, and personal histories. At home, students have been talking to family members as a way to gather more intimate stories and information about an ancestor of their choosing. Students have been given resources to support their work at home. These resources can also be accessed below.

 We will work on finalizing these projects this week with an end date of this Friday. On the following Wednesday, January 18, projects will be on display in the hallway during the evening music concert. We will also be setting up an exhibit in the cafeteria on Wednesday afternoon. You are invited to view student projects during both of those periods.

Thank you for your support and assistance with this project. Every one has been bringing in some pretty interesting information.

Ancestry Project
Due: Friday, January 13
Presentation: Wednesday, January 18, 1:30-2:30
Student presentations will be set up in the cafeteria on the afternoon of January 18. Parents, community members, and elementary classes are invited to join our celebration. Presentations will also be on display during the evening concert.

Your final project must include:
  • Family Tree including you, your parents, your grandparents, more if you can
  • At least TWO stories about that person
    • If the person is still alive, the stories should be gathered from interview.
  • At least two pieces of historical context
    • Example: Types of cars, radios, cameras from that time
  • At least TWO primary sources
    • Example: photographs, maps, diaries, gravestones, birth/marriage certificates
